LIVING IN OELWEIN

Originally established in a cornfield on the railroad line, Oelwein is now a small town of 5,920 with plenty of character and charm. Oelwein was considered a railroad town until the 1960s and Transco Railway Products still operates here. Enjoy various recreational activities at the Family Aquatics Center or catch a show at the Grand Theatre of Oelwein. The Veterans Sports Complex offers 32 acres of space for league play in soccer, softball and baseball. 

Gather downtown for the annual Oelwein Celebration or enjoy the vendors at the Farmers’ Market in the summer. You’re only 15 minutes south of Upper Iowa University’s campus in Fayette, making it easy to catch a baseball, basketball or football game. 

Enjoy any of the nine parks or bike, skate or walk down the paved trail that runs through natural woods, scenic plantings and a butterfly garden.

Waterloo, Iowa is the model mid-sized American City! Located in the Upper Midwest, Waterloo is the major metro of the Cedar Valley Region of Northeast Iowa. As the Black Hawk County Seat, Waterloo is the hub for government, manufacturing, healthcare, education, employment, and retail for the region with a labor force draw of over 300,000.
