Founded in 1847 by a group of Dutch immigrants, the city of Pella now boasts a population of 10,464. The residents are tight-knit and tend to be civic-minded and involved in their community. Pella is home to Central College and several large manufacturing companies, including the Vermeer Manufacturing Company and Pella Corporation. 

A must-do in Pella? The annual Tulip Time Festival is a joyous celebration of Pella’s Dutch heritage, complete with the famous Pella tulips growing all around town. During the 2010 festival, a world record was set for the most people dancing in wooden shoes.

Pella’s Main Square is lined with locally-owned restaurants, bakeries (Dutch letters are an essential treat!), shops and historical attractions.
